Deena grew up in Pennsylvania USA with her parents and sister. She doesn’t have a lot of childhood memories but remembers always being told she was too sensitive, especially by her mother. Her dad was an alcoholic and her parents fought terribly for the first 4 years of her life. She was bullied a lot in school and found refuge in the art room. She went to college for two years but didn’t earn a degree. She worked in retail and has held jobs as a secretary, a volunteer at a domestic violence shelter and a dental assistant— She is now a sterile processing tech for a medical clinic. She was married and divorced twice. She has a son and two daughters, all grown. She now lives with her partner Larry in Ogden, UT.
Pain and fatigue prevented her from enjoying most things. She quit crafting and watched a lot of tv instead. She was in bed often and I couldn’t be the energetic and fun mom that she used to be. She always worked part-time as a stay at home mom, but after being fired from a call center for too many sick days, she applied for and was awarded social security disability benefits. Fibromyalgia took everything that she once was. It took her vibrancy, her energy, her social life, her mental health, and her physical abilities. However, she is doing much much better now.
